This program focuses on the following major policy areas:
Sustainable water resources management and policy.
Land protection, sustainable land resources management and policy.
Land-water-energy nexus and regional sustainable development management and policy.
Climate change adaptation management and policy.
Resources, environmental, and ecological management and policy.
The three-tier modeling approach consists of the Computable General Equilibrium of Land Use Change (CGELUC) model, the Dynamics of Land System (DLS) model and the Estimation System for Agricultural Productivity (ESAP) model.
The CGELUC model retrieves the coupling relationship between industrial development and structural changes of land use with the idea of solving mathematical optimization, quantitatively represents the relationship between regional development and land-use change, and studies laws of the structural change of regional land use triggered by policy instruments.
