The Rural Education Action Program (REAP) is an impact evaluation organization that aims to inform sound education, health and nutrition policy in China. REAP’s goal is to help students from vulnerable communities in China enhance their human capital and overcome obstacles to education so that they can escape poverty and better contribute to China’s developing economy. REAP’s research focuses on three key areas: health, nutrition & education, keeping kids in school, technology & human capital.

This program focuses on the following major policy areas:

The three-tier modeling approach consists of the Computable General Equilibrium of Land Use Change (CGELUC) model, the Dynamics of Land System (DLS) model and the Estimation System for Agricultural Productivity (ESAP) model.

The CGELUC model retrieves the coupling relationship between industrial development and structural changes of land use with the idea of solving mathematical optimization, quantitatively represents the relationship between regional development and land-use change, and studies laws of the structural change of regional land use triggered by policy instruments.

Agriculture Remote Sensing

Global Crop Monitoring System, Crop Watch, is one of three globe crop monitoring systems in the world. The current system takes advantage of multiple new remote sensing data sources, and presents a hierarchical crop monitoring technology, which is featured as the integration of multi scales, multi tempo-spatial resolution, and multi-indicators. The global crop monitoring and grain production analysis system was developed under the cloud platform to achieve the global grain production monitoring and information dissemination.
